Shakeria Brown is an Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse. She is a Psychiatric Nurse at the agency. Shakeria earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from Norwalk Community College in Norwalk, Connecticut in May of 2013, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downer Grove, Illinois in April of 2015, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota in May of 2020. She served as Active Duty/Reservist in the Unites States Army from 1997 to 2005.
Shakeria worked as a Floor Nurse at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home in Stratford, Connecticut from 2010 to 2014 where she provided medication management and psychiatric treatment to patients on the behavioral health unit. She worked as Unit Manager at Bridgeport Healthcare Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut from 2014 to 2015 where she planned, organized and developed direct in-service education programs, and was responsible for the orientation, training and supervision of trainees. Shakeria was a Nursing Instructor at Stone Academy in West Haven, Connecticut from 2015 to 2016. In 2016, she also worked as a Unit Manager at Autumn Lake of Cromwell in Cromwell, Connecticut where provided palliative care in a short term setting. She worked as a Staff Nurse at Mid-state Medical Center in Meriden, Connecticut from 2016 to 2017 where she provided care on the Cardiac/Telemetry Unit. Shakeria is currently a Nursing Educator at Porter and Chester Institute in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Shakeria completed her Clinical/Practicum experience in Psychiatric Mental Health for the Master of Science in Nursing degree at CNV Help Inc. in Watertown, Connecticut in 2019 and at Sound Mind Healthcare in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania from 2019 to 2020, where she provided medication management and psychiatric services to children, adolescents and adults.
Shakeria provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management for mental health and co-occurring disorders and works with children, adolescents and adults at the agency.
