Rumen Slavkov is a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist and the Medical Director at the agency. He graduated with a medical degree in 1981 from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, Europe. Dr. Slavkov was a Military Physician from 1982 to 1984 and the Chief of Emergency Department at Botevgrad Regional Hospital in Bulgaria from 1985 to 1988.
His residency training was at Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and New York Medical College at Westchester County Medical Center Psychiatric Institute. He completed a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at the Bronx Children’s Psychiatric Center and an Infant Psychiatry Fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine at the Institute of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health.
Dr. Slavkov trained in Child, Marriage and Family Therapy at the California Family Studies Center in North Hollywood, California and completed an internship during this training at the Interfaith Pastoral Counseling Center in Kitchener, Ontario. He trained in psychoanalysis at the Training and Research Institute in Self Psychology and the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity.
Dr. Slavkov is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
