Parenting Education Program Information

The Parenting Education Program is a six hour course which runs in two 3 hour sections.    The Program must be completed in its’ entirety to receive credit.  The curriculum utilized is TransParenting by Families First.  For more information on TransParenting, please visit  The Program is Psychoeducational in nature and designed to provide parents with information on:

(1)  how divorce affects your children at various stages of development and how you can understand your child’s needs at each stage

(2)  how you can effectively communicate with your child and encourage your child to express their emotions openly

(3)  appropriate guidelines for visitations/parenting time, long distance parenting, establishing two separate homes, and other situations that are unique to family separation

(4)  behaviors that are helpful or damaging to your children through the transition and after

(5)  skills for effective co-parenting so that you can help your children feel safe and secure

(6)  the importance of healthy relationships with your children to minimize the damaging effects that can be caused by separation

(7)  how family violence affects the restructuring of family

(8)  at-risk signs in children and how to access community resources that can help both you and your children

Court Mandated Parenting Education Program

We are contracted with the Judicial Branch to provide these 6 hour court mandated classes.  Parents may attend the class together or separately.
